kwallet wallet gone kde4 to kde5

I've just updated my slackware-current install and seemed to go smoothly except kwalletmanager5 does not show my old wallet from KDE4. I can see the .kwl file is there and the .salt file too. I tried the File->Import a wallet but it did nothing, as in it didn't open a window or spit out a message on the command line from which I launched kwalletmanager5. A search on this forum yielded no clues and a wider search shows I'm not alone in this problem but none of the fixes I found worked for me.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

This is no kwalletmamager5, never has been one. There have need some name changes with the intro of vtown and the merge in the the -current tree.

Read thru the Tue Nov 3 22:32:22 UTC 2020 and Mon Dec 7 21:49:58 UTC 2020 ChangeLog.txt entries.

It is in /usr/bin and is listed in the package logs:

Code:
kwalletmanager-20.12.1-x86_64-1:usr/bin/kwalletmanager5

I'm still on 14.2, but looks like you're not the first to have problems:

Where are stored your .kwl and .salt files? In kde5, it's there:
Code:
$ ls .local/share/kwalletd/
kdewallet.kwl  kdewallet.salt
I don't know where it was stored in kde4 (I didn't use it then).

If your wallet is not named kdewallet, change the default wallet in System Settings>KDE Wallet>Select default wallet (rough translation from French). In KDE Wallet setting page, also check the box "Activate KDE Wallet sub-system".

If the above doesn't work, please share the error message you get when trying to import your wallet in KDE Wallet Manager.

I moved my .kwl and .salt file to this location and, voila, it now works! I had tried moving these files to two other locations suggested by users on other distros - seems to be a lot of variation out there. Thank you very much for this help - losing access to this information even for just a few days was a huge deal.
