Konsole Terminal is missing??

Ok, my Konsole is not quite mssing per se but it is acting strangely. Earlier I was messing with things logged in as root and suddenly my Konsole started acting weird. At first it wouldn't let me open pdfs from the command line and then I tried firefox and I got this error message:
Code:
Error: no display specified
so I logged off and logged back n to see if it was some kind of temporary bug but when I logged back in there wasn't even a launcher for Konsole in the kde menu system tab. The only form of the Konsole that I can find is in the system tabs more applications tab but it is referred to as "Terminal Program - Super User Mode". Which is lame because I love to use the Konsole when I am just logged into regular user account but don't want to have to log in as root every time to use the Konsole.

Does someone out there know what is going on with my Konsole?

One more quick question...whenever I try to save anything when I am logged into my user account it gives me an error similar to this:

Code:
/home/skaldicpoet9/downloads/01881_orionnebula_1920x1080.jpg could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder.
is this because I created these directories as root? so now only root has permission to write to them?

About your first question, did you start getting this error
Quote:
Error: no display specified
as soon as you logged on as root?
Did you start the window manager as user?
If you logged into the window manager as user and then started using the superuser mode in konsole, this error could be because your display is being used by user. try sudo, instead of using it in superuser mode.

Yes, you will need root permissions to change files that directory. But you can change permissions of the folder.
use
Quote:
chmod
Quote:
chown

No, not after I logged in, the first time it happened was while I was logged in as root.

The first time it happened I was logged into the wdm as root.

That's the thing though, I didn't start it in user. I just want to be able to start the non-root, non super user, Konsole. Right now I am in user mode and whenever I log into the konsole it is still defined as being in super user mode.

note: whenever I type the following into a terminal:

Code:
sudo Konsole
I get this message:

Code:
skaldicpoet9 is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported.
I do have ownership over my files again though, thanks
