Kernel packages

Are there any 2.6 Kernel packages (already compiled) for Slackware? I can't seem to find any and I tried compiling my own somewhat unsuccessfully

10.2's 2.6 kernel: http://mirror.switch.ch/ftp/mirror/s.../linux-2.6.13/

-current kernel: http://mirror.switch.ch/ftp/mirror/s...nux-2.6.16.20/

You can also find 10.2 kernel package on Slackware CD 2.

The testing directory has a set of kernel-generic, kernel-modules, kernel-source and alsa-driver.
The generic is much simpler than the 2.4.32 bare.i and therefore has to have filesystem modules like reiserfs preloaded using mkinitrd.

They work very well for me, but be VERY careful to make sure that you do the mkinitrd and lilo steps properly or you will be shut out badly. The 9.1 disk two is getting a bit old to use as a rescue disk. I really hope that 11.0 disk 2 can be used as a rescue again.

Not to contradict your point about the value of a rescue disk, but you can fix an initrd or lilo problem without one. You can boot into the existing installed system using the first install CD.

The exact command depends on your choice of kernel and the partition to mount, but after you boot from the 1st CD you enter something like...
boot: bare.i root=/dev/hda1 noinitrd ro
