KDE may run Android apps in the future

I just stumbled over an interesting post on Google+ about a thing called "Shashlik":

Long story short, the KDE devs are working on the mechanism to run Android apps on the Linux desktop!
I'm very excited to see this grow and evolve and given the fact that Slackware uses KDE as their main WM, we may get it in the future, too

I'm trying to think of an Android app that I would be interested in running on a computer.

So far I haven't thought of one. But I'm old and cranky.

hahaha.

For some reason I get the feeling I read somewhere that there was a pretty simple way to do that already on linux. Like frankbell I kind of skipped over it due to lack of interest.

I looked at it maybe two years ago wanting to know why it was so seemingly hard to run android apps on a linux distro. Did seem to be more complex that should have been. Google seemed to try to make it harder for no reason that I could discover except maybe to close it to open source.

What would you do with android apps on linux?

There are two types of apps I'd be interested:

1) Ebook readers. This type of Android apps are much better than their counterparts in Linux.

2) Games. I'm not a gamer, but I've seen a couple games that would be fun to play on the computer.

Diantre, you piqued my curiosity. Since I use FBReader on both my phone and my computers, I'd be curious what other ebook readers you would suggest.

Yeah, I thought mature Android emulators were already readily available?

One Android app I might be interested in is the Android iTunes Music app.

Chromium can already run Android Apps with ArcWelder. But last time I checked I couldn't even run basic 3D applications with it.

If the Plasma/KDE solution gets better than Chromium, I will happily use it since I only have an ARMv7 (S1) phone with basic capabilities.

Well, my two favorites are Mantano Reader and Moon+ Reader.
