[SOLVED] KDE 4.2.4: KDM start with xterm failsafe only?

Hi guys,

A few days ago, I upgraded KDE to version 4.2.4.
And now, after logged in, I get xterm failsafe only (a white rectangular aka a window without title bar appear at the bottom-right).
Of course, I can start KDM normally when typing 'startkde' from xterm, but it display the following messages:

Sorry for my first post, it's not exactly.

The KDE is upgraded automatically, after that I run 'slackpkg upgrade-all' to upgrade the rest of system.

To help you, we really need to know what was and is your Slackware version.

My guess is it was Slackware 12.2, and you tried to upgrade to 13.0 Right or wrong ?

If I am right, did you follow all the steps indicated in UPGRADE.TXT ?

And did you uncheck a good, i.e. fitting your new Slackware version, mirror in /etc/slackpkg/mirrors ?

No, I upgraded to Slackware 13 (32-bit) about a month ago. And some days ago, KDE was updated automatically to version 4.2.4 and I get this problem.

Of course, I uncommented only one mirror correspond with version which I am using:

Your sentence was so obscure as mine. When I upgraded to Slackware 13, KDE version was 3.5. And after running 'slackpkg upgrade-all' a few days ago, its version is 4.2.4. Hope it is clear enough for you.

Believe me or not, KDE-3.5. was never shipped with Slackware-13.0 but KDE-4.2.4 was included in Slackware-13.0 and Slackware64-13.0 as well from the very beginning, that is to say release day: 2009-08-27. This is clearly stated in the official announcement:

No, I downloaded ISO file and upgraded directly to Slackware 13.0.

Look in /etc/kde/kdm. If there is a file kdmrc.new move it to kdmrc.
