K3B IO error

ok i am not one to panic but, K3B has gone daft on me!

it's taken it upon itself to inform me of the following:

Quote:
IO Error. Most likely no space left on harddisk
Removing temporary files
This is odd because because both kinfo centre and qtparted inform me that i have over 30 gigs of free space!

This is happening at the worst possible time EVER! i have to remaster a promo CD for some friends who have a meeting with a record company on monday coming!

PLEASE PLEASE if you can help me then i beg you do so!

Thanks

The Yikes

EDIT:

P.S i have been burning cd's all weekend and this hasn't happened!

Hi,
I am not at home, so I cannot check things, but perhaps there is trouble related to the "temp" directory? There is a value in the lower right hand corner for that...

Perhaps a permission or owner of a file changed?

You may have space left (30Gb), but we need to know in which partition free space is located.

I had a similar issue some time ago when I compiled a program (OpenOffice.org), root partition (/) had no space left whereas I had space remaining on my /home partition.

Definitively output of 'df -h' will help.

Sorry for the delay!

Hey all sorry but in a moment of panic i forgot to click the ox that informs me instantly of replies! willysr heres the info you asked for

Quote:
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda1 62G 29G 30G 50% /
cooldave, i think you might you might be onto something, i cleared the entire contents of my /tmp/ directory just before this happened. However i reinstalled k3b and it didnt create any directory's in tmp so i'm kinda confused.

gegechris99 as for which partition has the space see the above response to willysr.

Thanks ppz!

K3B issue resolved!

okay i'm a complete idiot

the tip cooldave gave me was pretty much bang on, K3B was trying to write to a non existant temp folder that it insisted on calling "sid" and for some strange reason it wanted it to be placed on my desktop as opposed to my /tmp/ folder.

I tried twice to tell it to write to /tmp/ but to no avail. Next i gave it the folder "sid" on my desktop and it worked. only after that would it allow me to change the default temp dir to /tmp/?

Odd but it's working now. You guys are totally amazing, thanks so so much for taking the time to help me with this, i had no idea as to where to even begin.

Your diamonds!

Thanks cooldave, willysr & gegechris99, no wonder linux rocks!
