iwconfig issues

ok so i am unable to find wlan0
when i do iwconfig i get:

lo no wireless extensions
eth0 no wireless extensions

i have already tried:
ndiswrapper -e bcmwl5(my driver)
modprobe -r ndiswrapper
ndiswrapper -i bcmwl5.inf
ndiswrapper -l
bcmwl5: driver installed
device ..... present...
modprobe ndiswrapper
FATAL: Errroe inserting ndiswrapper (/lib/modules/2.6.21.5 /misc/ndiswrapper.ko):
Invalid module format

when i do dmesg i get a bunch of BS then:
ndiswrapper: version magic '2.6.21.5 SMP mod_unload PENTIUMIII ' should be '2.6.21.5 SMP mod_unload 486'

what could be my problem guys?

Hi, and welcome to LQ.
To make it easier all that is needed is the infor for your wireless card so as root;
Code:
 lspci | grep Ethernet
Should do it.

ok well i got a few things
since last nite i rebooted and found out some things
1. lspci came up with:
Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM94311MCG wlan mini-PCI (rev 02)
07:05.0

2.My kwlan was up but my wireless card's alias was not wlan0 it was eth1
when i went to configure it i got this error:

Kwlan was unable to Configure wlan interface using iwconfig
This may be caused by system misconfiguration e.g. absence of the utility called or incorrect parameters passed.
Please check this and try again

3. Since i saw that kwlan was up i decided to do iwconfig again resulting in all this:

bt ~ # iwconfig

lo
no wireless extensions.
eth0
no wireless extensions.

eth1
IEEE 802.11b/g
ESSIDff/any
Nickname:"Broadcom 4311"
Mode:Managed
Frequency=2.472 GHz
Access Point: Invalid
RTS thrff
Fragment thrff
Encryption keyff
Link Quality=0/100
Signal level=-256 dBm
Noise level=-256 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0
Rx invalid crypt:0
Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0
Invalid misc:0
Missed beacon:0

bt ~ # ifconfig eth1 up
SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such device

see if you guys can make sense of this
thanks a bunch

You may have more success looking at the backtrack website and forums. Slackware is different and in particular doesn't recommend using KDE to configure networks - BackTrack may be otherwise.

When you run lsmod is bcm43xx loaded?
Post uname -a if have not already.

Here is the site for b43;
http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Devices/PCI
If you want to use ndiswrapper something like this;
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...te=1&p=3304332

Your going to be fighting a losing battle with Back Track. Try something like Mepis or Ubuntu and see if you can get the wireless to work, then install any other tools you want, whatever the reason you wanted back track from the start.

No, look on the bottom of the page;
http://www.ubuntu.com/products/WhatI...desktopedition

Why would you want to use the tools from the BT cd, You should be able to install them with the package manager of whatever distro you install, for Ubuntu it is apt and one of the GUI's for apt is Synaptic;
