so what's the state of gnash on slack
I don't see a slackbuild anywhere, however it works just fine on slackware64 13.0. If someone does make a slackbuild I wonder how it would be configured. I personally configure it to use opengl renderer and ffmpeg. But by default it uses agg and gstreamer.
Don't know about slackware but I built gnash from source and it's far from perfect. On average it will play about half of the youtube videos with which it's presented. To be fair, though, I haven't updated to the latest version -- mine is probably about six month's old. I can't tell you the exact version number as I'm not sitting in front of it at the moment.
It is a project in development though so I expect it to improve dramatically over time. The best thing is to give it a try.
Creating those two files crashed firefox all the time here. Some people in ##slackware suggested pointing .macromedia to /dev/null instead but haven't tried it.

I never had such crash more than one month after the creation of those empty files (ex: YouTube, Dailymotion). I'm using Slackware 13.0 32-bit architecture.

I tried it again, and this time i have no crashes. I cant explain it. But im glad it works. I'll keep the files and see how it goes.
