Post Is a fiewall installed

This may be obvious to some people, but is there a firewall installed during the installation of Slack?

Is it command orientated?

If so is there a graphical firewall I could replace it with, preferably with program control.

I aim to use computer primarily to experiment with distributed application development with Java and different linux compatible servers, Apache Tomcat, sun App Server etc. All seem to default to the same ports for admin, users and alike. Would this become as problem.

Slackware comes with iptables which is the firewall tool for Linux (compare with pf for openbsd).

You can either create your own iptables script or you can use a graphical tool like GTK-iptables.

Here's a good tutorial: http://iptables-tutorial.frozentux.n...-tutorial.html
