iPod Randomly Umounting & Ejecting (Then Re-Mounting)

Hello,

My iPod randomly changes devices while I'm listening to it through Amarok on Slackware 12. For some reason when I drop down the device list in Amarok, I see "/dev/sdc2 Apple iPod," under that "/dev/sdb2 Apple iPod," and "/dev/sdb2 Apple iPod." Only one of them is the actual device, though the system believes the other 3 are distinct devices.

Any ideas?

Also, is it possible to delete all folders other than my /home & re-install slackware without a reformat?

Thanks,

corte

Are you making sure to properly unmount and eject it before you disconnect it from the system? I have seen multiple device nodes pop up like that before if the device wasn't unmounted correctly.

Yes it's actually unmounting & ejecting itself for some reason after around 10 minutes!
