Installing Cheops-ng and other Gnome programs

Hello Everybody,

I am trying to install cheops-ng and am getting errors when running ./configure.

Aparently, it needs to Gnome dependancies.

Any help how to properly compile it would be great.

Install the dependencies then run configure again.

Hello,

I am getting this error:

Code:
checking for gtk-config... (cached) /usr/bin/gtk-config
checking for GTK - version >= 1.2.0... no
*** Could not run GTK test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means GTK was incorrectly installed
*** or that you have moved GTK since it was installed. In the latter case, you
*** may want to edit the gtk-config script: /usr/bin/gtk-config
configure: error: Cannot find GTK: Is gtk-config in path
Despite having GTK-1.2.10 installed.

Any ideas?

Well, maybe you should have mentioned that in your first post .

Guess what I googled for to find this.

By the way, did you follow the hint in the error message you posted?

See the file config.log for the exact error that occured.
If you do that, and you find that what's at the above link applies to you, then the solution is to install GNOME and then run configure again.

Hello Dugan,

What is the most accepted approach to install Gnome, considering Slackware has dropped Gnome a few versions ago?

Choose one of the four third-party distributions of GNOME for Slackware:

I've used the Slackware 12.1 versions of GSlacky and GnomeSlackBuild. Both are good.
