Installing Archlinux hwd on Slack 10.2

Anyone ever try to install HWD from Archlinux onto Slackware?

X -configure doesn't always provide enough information and I would
like to try a tool which does a more thorough job of creating an
xorg.conf.

Reading about hwd has wet my appetite but its install instructions are
limited to "pacman" which I presume is the package manager for Arch.
I was able to find source code and, it appears, some PKGBUILD and install
scripts at http://user-contributions.org/projects/hwd/hwd.html.
However, I am not quite sure just what the scripts do and am reluctant
to run them without asking around.

Can anyone provide a little help here?

Are you running a 2.4 kernel or 2.6? It looks like the newer versions of hwd might do what you want if you are running a 2.6 kernel. Otherwise you'd need to use an older version of hwd which depends on having a couple of binary programs installed which are not usually found in Slackware,
