Install another kernel without hosing existing ones?

If I install the 2.6.x kernel off the #2cd for Slack 10, will it overwrite my existing kernels so I can't boot them? What I mean is I currently have the 2.4.26 and the 2.6.9 kernel, using 2.6.9 as my default. I want to compare things in the 2.6.x from cd #2 to my 2.6.9 kernel. Will I still be able to boot all three kernels, and look at all three kernel .configs?

just copy the new kernel to /boot and make sure to name it something other than your existing kernel name.

make sure to edit /etc/lilo.conf with your new kernel listing and update the boot loaded with /sbin/lilo
