iMake not Found

Even after installing every X11R6 package (including the devel package), iMake can't be found. The file even exists at "/usr/X11R6/bin/imake". What's going on?

What is going on is that you don't have imake in your search path. The PATH variable. Run : echo $PATH and see if /usr/X11R6/bin is in the output.

If it is not, then run export PATH=$PATH:/usr/X11R6/bin

To put it to the PATH variable for good, change the /etc/profile file or for a single user, edit the ~/username/.bashrc file.

Good luck!

If you are trying to use imake as root, make sure you do "su -" instead of a simple "su", otherwise /usr/X11R6/bin may not be in root's PATH. (That has caught me out a few times.)

It's in the path, but it just doesn't seem to be usable.

So "which imake" returns "/usr/X11R6/bin/imake", but "imake" returns "command not found" (or words to that effect)???

  Stop.
# which imake

Is there a Imakefile, Imake.tmpl or any file like that
in the directory where you attempt to use imake ?

Alright, I just forgot to do a configure, since it was in a subdirectory.
