Question I can't connect to the Internet

I just installed Slackware 10 on a ASUS K8V MB AMD64 with SATA drives (2.4 patched). I cannot connect to the Internet.
Why?
Using the KDE kernel editor, I activated the Marvell Gigabit controller.
It doesn't work! I can't connect.

kde kernel editor?
i'm fairly positive you must recompile the kernel to add features.

have you run netconfig, pppsetup, etc...

It probably recognized your NIC.

As root, "ifconfig" and see if eth0 shows up.

If it does, it may be an issue with dhcpcd or whatever dhcp client you're using.

Run netconfig as root, auto probe for your nic, then set up the the net for whatever you are using, whether dsl, cable etc. If you use dsl with dhcp, just enter any name for the name, localdomain for the domain, select dhcp, and leave the rest blank, in other words don't try to set a dhcp address or domain address. See here http://www.bitbenderforums.com/vb22/...?postid=311808 scroll towards the bottom and find the net set-up part

I can't connect to the Internet

I configured the network with netconfig this way
ip: 192.168.1.10
gateway 192.168.1.1
Static no DHCP
It is a cable connection 500 mbp
when I run ifconfig I get:
lo: local loopback
inetadmin 127.0.0.1
=============================
I don't see anything about eth0
