how to replace trashed ALSA files?

I've got a Slackware 11.0 install with a 2.4 kernel.

I overwrote two files in /dev/snd, namely pcmC0D0 and pcmC0D0d. How do I fix this? Do I need to reinstall ALSA or can I somehow rebuild the files in question?

Thanks.

slackware, when overwriting files, will create a backup file, usually with a tilde (~) after the file...you should be able to just copy those back to the existing file as root by using something like

cp pcmC0D0~ pcmC0D0 within the /dev/snd directory.
