How do I get WINE to work?

Anyway, I ran the wine install prog, and it installed everything, but it didn't find my windows partition. I have /mnt/hda1 as my win2k partition (NTFS). Anyway, I can read NTFS (which is why I have kernel 2.4.21, needed sources to compile in NTFS support, might as well get the new kernel

)

Now I'm a little lost as to the rest of the procedure. I have NEVER attempted WINE before. I can't even find the config file.

Also, how would I remove WINE totally and start from scratch?

I think a key point here is that the "windows partition" in wine is actually really only a directory in your home directory. wine will create a fake C:\ drive, along with various other familiar-looking Windows "directories", but it doesn't actually access a true Windows partition. I've got it running on a 100% Microsoft-free Linux box, and it works pretty well. -- J.W.
