hi new bie here


hi every one,
i am new to linux.i just downloaded slackware from some ftp server.i got it installed by the cd rom.in the process,i created a boot floppy.but the LILO is not getting loaded after rebooting.i even tried rebooting from floppy.i am using a dual booting system.plz help me out...

Did you install a boot loader (LILO)? Did you edit it, or did Slackware set it up for you to boot Slack? Have you setup your BIOS to boot from the floppy drive first?

hi i installed LILO into floppy.but when i insert the floppy while
booting its giving 0's and 1's. after that windows 98 is automatically getting booted. plz help me out...

Why did you install LILO...? Try GRUB (If You Have It On Your Linux Cds) or boot from cd-s again and reinstall boot load...but this time install it on your HDD.

hi i did not get you.i got the iso image downloaded from the net.i
dont know how to find the GRUB on it.secondly,you said to reinstall boot load.what is it ?
do i need to type just boot load at the prompt when i boot me cd?
i think i am bothering you with my foolish questions.sorry guys.
i am real interested in open source.i gotta do this some time or the other.help me out........

when you install slackware, it asks you where you want LILO installed. You should installl it in the master boot record MBR. I had your same exact problem, and that solved my problem
