HD Check Force --> Any way to stop?

I've been averaging about 28-30 mounts before a check is forced on my hdd. Between messing around with stuff, messing stuff up, and booting into XP ( ... shutter ... ) I'm rebooting quite a bit. Is there anyway to bumb this check level up?

btw: just so nobody asks ... yes I'm rebooting and shutting down correctly. I usually issue a reboot or shutdown from the command line (where I'm usually at) and if I am in KDE I back out and issue the command from the console out of habit.

Thanks
