HAL...why? Because it takes boring and repetitive yet unpredictable events which need varying responses and deals with them in a sane & intelligent way. And that can include doing nothing at all if the user prefers (to run a script instead).

I have 3 computers,4 unpowered USB laptop drives, 2 powered full size drives in USB enclosures, a 1GB USB thumb drive, several card readers, mini SD, micro SD, Compact Flash, 2 cameras, an iRiver H340, an MP4 player, several small MP3 players, a USB DVD-RW.

I like HAL.

But if it ever says to me "sorry Dave I can't do that" I'll hire someone to write the scripts for me.
