Exclamation graphical boot


yea so i got x workin but i got me a prob..... i did the id:4:......thinmg for u graphical loggin so i could change gui's cuz enlightiment is drivin me iiiiinsane in the membrain and now when i boot it will get to the loading gpm and freeze

you can always type in xinit. That will just load X. Then you can type in whatever WM you want. Startkde, start gnome, blackbox, etc.

i cant if frezzez at the loading gpm like i can typ shit but cant doanything do u know y enablign graphical loader would frezee the boot? and if i can get around this?

no its gpm its rite after all the shit is done loading and it say loading gpm........

darkstar loginname of my comp) and id do root but now it just gose to gpm not gnome desktop manager

Are you sure it's id:4 that will start gdm/kdm?? On my box it's id:5 and 4 is unsed.

Gpm is the mouse console application. It sounds like you get to inittab and it doesn't know what to do. Reread inittab to make sure you're not off in some unused rc.4 script.

if i remember correctly gpm is ur mouse server which gets loaded in the boot time...what u can do is either boot with a boot disk or try going into another console ctrl+alt F2 to F6 and see if u can get the console log in screen. Anyways after successfully loging in, change ur rc.4 script to load gdm or whatever login manager that works...i personally like gdm with that sunfloweron the bot right so pretty
