Hello every one,
while awaiting for a new motherboard for my desktop i am working on an old laptop (although running an i7 with 32Gb RAM) and I tried to launch google-earth-pro... how:
attempt 1) i downloaded the rpm binary and converted to gpz by use of the 'rpm2gpz' command (I know: very dirty, lazy and often wrong way to create slackware binary).
In both cases google-earth-pro did not laucnh however, it returned the error crash log

FWIW I had tried (perhaps a bit lazily) sometime around 2 years ago to build and install the then slightly different version of Google Earth from Slackbuilds.org and failed. Upon reading your post I tried again with the "legacy" version. In just a handful of minutes it built, installed, and launched without a hiccough. Perhaps make certain any previous attempts are nullified and try the newest slackbuild again.
Are you running Slackware? Or Gentoo (or something else?
Are you running Xorg or Wayland?
I shouldn't have to ask these things, you should be telling us.
HI there,
i am sorry i didnt specify the OS; i thought it was implied in my signature (at the bottom of every msg) that I ONLY run slackware. And, I am not sure how to find out whether I run Xorg or Wayland (although, i suspect it is the former).

I am happy to try again but i DID build the latest googleel from slackbuild and (i think) i had removed any previous google-earth packages. Will report back shortly on this.
Yes, i confirm that i installled the llatest build and this was the output:

That would be how you unset QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME
Then restart X.
Does your NVidia chip use the proprietary video driver?
No. I have never been able to install (not for personal incapacity) the native nvidia drivers neither in my laptop nor in my desktop. Nvidia drivers just WILL NOT INSTALL in either machines. I tried countless times.
However, not sure whether it matters in this case but, the desktop (also working with the 'nouveau' drivers) was launching google-earth-pro fine and allowed me to do some basic mapping (maybe not perfectly as it crashed, when i was zooming in on 3D views due to the lack of graphic acceleration).

AFAIK Google Earth dropped nouveau support quite a while ago. I remember version 7.1.something running fine under nouveau but 7.3.xxx not.
