GNOME 2.8 in Slackware 10.0

I have Slackware 10.0 with GNOME (also KDE installed).

What is the easiest way to get GNOME 2.8? Swaret?

The official Slackware packages for GNOME are getting really outdated. There have been rumors that GNOME will be dropped in the next release.

If you want GNOME 2.8, then I recommend trying out Dropline Gnome. It's an i686-optimized version made specifically for Slackware 10. I've been running it for about a month now, and haven't had any issues.

You can find it at http://www.dropline.net/gnome/

From the looks of the Slackware Current Changelogs, Patrick Volkerding is going to drop GNOME. He's building more packages without GNOME depencies and i have yet to see a GNOME 2.8 package.......

Hmm, if he drops GNOME, then we can use Dropline, can't we?

What is the main differences between 2.6 and 2.8?

Thanks.
