gnome 2.6 gdk_threads_lock error????

On Slackware 9.1, I upgraded my gnome 2.4 to 2.6 using swaret. Upgradation went smooth. On startx, X halted on this error

gnome-session: relocation error: /usr/lib/libgnomecanvas-2.so.0: undefined symbol: gdk_threads_lock

I tried to google for this but no result. Does anyone have any clue???

My guess (and it is a guess) is that something in your 2.4 gnome-session (the one you saved when you logged out of GNOME the last time) doesn't like 2.6.

If you have "Failsafe GNOME" available as a session in your DM, try choosing it when logging in. If it works, we can either try getting rid of some things in the gnome-session (maybe there was a hung process or something), or that might have fixed the normal user session (since 2.6 migrates the desktop settings to another folder in your $HOME$ when first run; if that's the problem, then getting that to run in the Failsafe session may resolve the issue in the regular session).

Of course, the other possiblility is that swaret did an incomplete upgrade and something is actually broken, but that's beyond me.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I had the same problem a couple of days ago.
If you haven't already, I suggest you upgrade to the latest versions of glib2 and GTK+2 available from slackware.com.
You may need to upgrade pango as well, I couldn't get gdm to run untill I upgraded pango.
