fsck.vfat ???

Hi i got an extra hdd that needs to run vfat.
The problem is that after some powercuts it doesn't feel ok anymore.
But thats normal since it got no journal in that filesystem.

Now i googled some and found that fsck.vfat could do the job of checking/fixing my hdd.
but when i type 'fsck -t vfat /dev/hdb1' i get
fsck 1.35 (28-Feb-2004)
fsck: fsck.vfat: not found
fsck: Error 2 while executing fsck.vfat for /dev/hdb1

So the default fsck in slackware seems to not support vfat.

How do i fix so fsck.vfat works?
And is there an better way of checking/fixing vfat partitions in linux??

"How do i fix so fsck.vfat works?"

The vfat version of fsck is actually named dosfsck. Check to see if you have dosfsck installed. If so then make a symbolic link from fsck.vfat to dosfsck:

ln -s /sbin/dosfsck /sbin/fsck.vfat

If dosfsck is not installed then install it and make the symbolic link.

Thanks for the answer.

Now when i run it i get
There are differences between boot sector and its backup.
Differences: (offsetriginal/backup)
65:01/00
1) Copy original to backup
2) Copy backup to original
3) No action
Now should i go for the backup or the original.
2 sounds ok to me, but since it's my first try with this program i'm not sure.
What is original is it from when i made the partition??
And backup from powercut??
