font problems with wine

When I used slackware 13.0 I installed wine 1.1.40 and then I installed an old program, PowerTAB. The font for the mf, mp, and other symbols was very small and unreadable. To solve this I put sylfaen.ttf in /home/darksaurian/.wine/drive_c/windows/Fonts and this magically fixed the problem. I don't know why or how I figured it out.

But now with Slack 13.1 I do the exact same thing, same version of wine, and the font trick does nothing. The mf, mp symbols remain unchanged and unreadable.

Anybody have any idea how to fix this?

Do you have fontforge installed and wine compiled with that as an option? I have never used PowerTAB so I don't know if this is the problem but all the slackbuilds have an option for fontforge and your problem is with fonts.

??? I checked Slackbuilds for wine and I didn't see it there. I compiled the sourceforge tar.gz myself with /tools/wineinstall.

use the fontforge slackbuild from SBo. Then after that use Alien Bob's wine slackbuild here (after you install fontforge)

http://connie.slackware.com/~alien/slackbuilds/wine/

or you could just use his precompiled packages

Alien Bob has a Wine Slackbuild and there's another one at the Wine website itself.

There is a wine slackbuild for 13.0 on sbo. I will submit one for 13.1 as soon as submissions open again.

It looks like packages at wine website are for Slack 13.0:
http://www.winehq.org/download/

But there is fontforge for Slack 13.1 at SBo:
http://slackbuilds.org/result/?search=fontforge&sv=13.1

So I guess I can either use that in conjunction with AlienBob's script for wine or I can wait for wine for Slack 13.1 to appear at SBo.

-edit:
Your signature is funny. I don't know how to use vi. There was something that always opened in vi automatically, I can't remember what. And then I could never exit. I think I was in the wrong mode or something? I don't know.
-double edit:
How come I only have one penguin in this post? And why it not say "Original Poster"? Weird.

Well visudo, crontab -e both run whatever EDITOR/VISUAL is set too, which is usually vi by default. Can change that in the shell though.

And it does say 'original poster' for me at least.

just use Alien Bob's, it builds the newest version of wine, you can trust anything that comes from him.
