font nonsense with icewm
Hello -- I am having some issues with fonts in Slackware.
First of all, following instructions from somewhere I got hinted antialiased fonts going in Slackware, and set comfortable sizes and fontfaces for GTK apps with gnome-font-properties. This seems to have set my IceWM fonts to what I want (Good, but I didn't know IceWM was GTK based..?). The icewm preferences file simply lists the fonts as being xftdummy-sans or xftdummy-monospace (BTW, what is the deal with these -- googling for xftdummy produces 0 results, and I am wondering how my fonts suddenly become the appropriate ones when these are used) for various parts, which seems to make these Tahoma and Courier New as I wanted.
What is happening, however, is that twice now my fonts have mysteriously dropped in size. The first time I fiddled with some things (renaming my icewm config files and rerunning gnome-font-properties as root and regular user) and all of a sudden it worked again. It has happened again and I can't seem to make it go back.
Also, when I run gnome-font-propeties as regular user, the fonts are smaller (the size my IceWM fonts currently-are-but-shouldn't-be), but when I run gnome-font-properties as root the fonts are the right size..?
Am I way off base here with the whole gnome-font-properties thing? What is happening to my fonts?
