firefox and gimp won't run (pango problem?) [SOLVED!]

I upgraded from 10 to current and from kernel 2.4 to 2.6.11. I upgraded the kernel first, and then the base system. (I didn't upgrade aaa packages so my system isn't borked) Using swaret, I have downloaded and installed firefox and gimp. When I try to run firefox, I get this error (whether I start it from root or not):

Code:
Failed to load Pango module for id: 'BasicScriptEngineFc'

** (firefox-bin:11852): WARNING **:
 /usr/lib/pango/1.4.0/modules/pango-basic-fc.so:
undefined symbol: g_return_if_fail_warning
Failed to load Pango module for id: 'BasicScriptEngineFc'
(firefox-bin:11852): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **:
 file gobject.c: line 1561 (g_object_ref): assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

** (firefox-bin:11852): CRITICAL **: file pango-engine.c: line 68
 (_pango_engine_shape_shape): assertion `PANGO_IS_FONT (font)' failed

** ERROR **: file shape.c: line 75 (pango_shape):
 assertion failed: (glyphs->num_glyphs > 0)
aborting...
/usr/lib/firefox-1.0.4/run-mozilla.sh: line 159: 11852 Aborted                 "$prog" ${1+"$@"}
I have tried uninstalling pango and reinstalling, but to the same result.

SO I thought I'd try something else with the gimp. Here's the error I get:
Code:
gimp: symbol lookup error: gimp: undefined symbol: gimp_label_set_attributes
These were both downloaded from slackware's current repository. Any input would be greatly appreciated. THanks.

I have seen this in the past when one upgrades GTK+ to a newer version (like going from GTK+2.4 to 2.6.x) but does not upgrade pango at the same time. Perhaps swaret upgraded your GTK+ but left your pango at an old version?

Thanks for the quick reply. I compared what I have installed to the package list on slackware.com and it all matches. I did notice that I did not have libgtkhtml installed, which gimp-help uses. I thought that may help so I installed it and I get the same results. Any other ideas?

Weird. I have an old 10.0 installation on another partition and just copied the pango-basic-fc.so to replace the current one. Now firefox loads like a champ. Problem solved!
