espeak reoccuring problems every boot- slackware 12.2

i have espeak installed on my computer (espeak 1.40.02, slack 12.2) but every boot it seems to uninstall itself or something. I can run installpkg and install it; it'll work fine, no errors as long as my computer remains on.
As soon as I reboot, espeak gives me this when I try to run it:
Code:
Wrong version of espeak-data 0x14000 (expects 0x14100) at /usr/share/espeak-data
espeak: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libespeak.so.1: undefined symbol: Pa_StreamActive
It would be awesome if I could figure out why this keeps happening and how to fix it

Maybe you have more than one version of /usr/lib/espeak.so.1? If there happens to be a newer version than espeak expects in there, ldconfig at boot is going to set the /usr/lib/espeak.so.1 symlink to point to it, and perhaps installing the package sets it back. Just a guess...
