easyeffects/gtk4

I've been trying to get pulseeffects to work for quite a while now.
Now they call it "easyeffects" and require gtk4....

has anybody seen a recipe to build this thing (easyeffects) ?
(basically I'm just looking for a system equalizer)
is there anything that "just sits in front of /dev/dsp" ?
thoughts welcome

Pulse has a EQ, but you have to enable it. And I think that it was experimental or something.
