Dolphin's bug with folders.

Hi.

I've funny problem with Dolphin. Few times i've downloaded something and Dolphin can't see folders with it but terminal can see it, just like here:

As you can see, i've downloaded (right terminal) new KDE - 4.6.5. On the left terminal you can see that terminal can see contents od KDE folder:

-4.6.4
-4.6.5

but on the bottom of pic you can see Dolphin, and he can't see 4.6.5 folder, he can see only 4.6.4 - do you know why? This is not a fake folder, KDE has 4.4GB, when 4.6.4 has only 2.2GB so the other place has to be 4.6.5 with 2.3GB.

I can enter 4.6.5 folder with terminal, but i cant enter it via Dolphin.

As a matter of fact this strange behaviour happened for me few times. I don't know why, maybe You can tell me why?

Long time bug in KDE.

If F5 does not refresh the display, you need to either open a new tab, or close/open Dolphin.
Very annoying, and has been present since the inotify changes in 2.6.31(?)+ kernels. Even currently in KDE 4.6.5.

KDE uses their own file monitoring program, rather than using/linking to fam/gamin. http://websvn.kde.org/?revision=1065275&view=revision

Good to know.

So, in other words - there is no "cure" for it? No fix for it? In my case pressing F5 or closing and opening new tab does absolutely nothing. As a matter of fact i have this behaviour on KDE 4.5.5, and newer, also with 4.6.5. The only way to see folders when this bug occurs is to reboot, but it's very annoying.

Btw - i tried to find what is kdirwatch - what's that?

Your problem sounds like something entirely different then

The common - Dolphin does not update file displays - bug is (to parapharse)
Folder has 20 files in it, you download a couple of tar balls, untar them in a terminal, or right-click extract. Dolphin still reports 20 files. Usually F5 works, sometimes you need to open a new tab (old tab is dead close it) or close and restart Dolphin ------ But not the PC!!

What your are reporting appears to be either a device error/problem or file system problem/error (NTFS).
Perhaps (as it appears your are using a drive formatted to NTFS), there is a slight delay between the actual writing process (needs to go through fuse, and then ntfs-3g or the kernel ntfs module).

Try passing the sync command.

Is the situation the same when you attempt the operations on a Linux native file system?
