Does mplayer scale in current with radeon?

I have noticed that recently, cannot tell after which update, my mplayer does not scale to full screen. It just shows the movie in the center of the screen with black frame around it.

I do not know how tightly it may be related, but xine-check says my X server does not support YV12 overlays (twice, BTW, so there must be a bug in its message file) and has no XVideo support.

Is it normal in current for now? The card is X1200 (R690)

If mplayer uses Xv for it's output, it will scale. If it uses x11 for it's output, it will not scale by default.

If you are not showing Xv support, then you do not have direct rendering for some reason, as that's needed for Xv on your GPU. Please show us your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file.

I looked into the log file (excellent idea!) and found the following:
Code:
(EE) RADEON(0): [dri] RADEONDRIGetVersion failed because of a version mismatch.
[dri] radeon kernel module version is 2.0.0 but version 1.17.0 or newer is needed.
[dri] Disabling DRI
Thus, I immediately remembered that I turned on radeon.modeset (since I ran over the post that it just works) and forgot to turn it off.

However, the error message states that 2.0.0 is not newer than 1.17.0. Is it really so or does the kernel fail to compare strings?

It's just a bad error message. If you use KMS, you need to have libdrm compiled with radeon modesetting support, and you need xf86-video-ati to be compiled against that version of libdrm.
