Basically, all I really want to know is if I can play Diablo 2 on wine, because i think I can figure out that install... Winex is a bit more complicated, and being a total newbie, I'd like to avoid it for now (damn cvs...)
I want to get Diablo2 working, because once I get that working, and my sound working, I'm going to congratulate myself by buying some Sennheiser HD 570 headphones!
If i need winex, I need to figure out cvs... When I try to login i get some error... Don't remember what it exactly is because I'm at work right now, but I'll post it when I get home.
Wine is primarily for programs like MS Office, Photoshop, etc. WineX is for games - it has directx support. Unfortunately for you, WineX is the best bet. You MAY be able to get a game working under Wine, but WineX is written for games.
Have you looked around www.winehq.org for help or readme files?
sweet, thanks guys...
i was hoping the raw computing power of my computer would make up for any lack of performance using wine instead of winex... But hey, I don't know how these games work, I just play them...
yeah, just finished reading the transgaming website... whats the difference between the cvs and teh non-free version? copy protection
all i really want to do is install diablo 2... i read wine has some d3d support, but if its really easy to install games then i'll probably go for it... do i seriously need a to install windows? some places say i need sindows, some places say i need a windows partition... who do I believe?
