Default X interface

Hi,

I've just installed slackware 10.0 and when I want to start the X interface, if I put 4 in the inittab... it's start Gnome
But if I start manually with startx. it's start KDE

I want to always start KDE, but I don't know where to fix it. I put in comment in rc.4 the instruction to verify if Gnome is there so they start KDE. So the login is in the KDE but when I log in root, it's change to Gnome.

Thanks

Jello

run xwmconfig, and then choose KDE as the default. It should then use kde everytime.

xwmconfig will just change the default desktop run when you execute startx. So in jelloguils' case he's already done that. He actually wants to change the login manager.

Jelloguil, open up /etc/rc.d/rc.4 and remove the GNOME section. It comes before KDE in the script, so if you have both KDE and GNOME installed, the GNOME login is prefered.

I've already do the 2 suggestion, I've run xwmconfig and I choose KDE

and in the rc.4 I put in command the section of gnome!!

I think it's in my root profile because when The login start, it's in KDE but when I log with Root, it's start gnome

OK, so your already using the KDE login manager? Then on the login in screen click on menu -> session type. Make sure it's set to KDE.
