Configuring Network

Hello I have an ADSL MODEM and a AIRTEL BROADBAND(ISP) I need to connect to the net through SLACKWARE how can i do it. I am a NEWBIE. Please Help Me!!!!!!!!!

How is the modem hooked up to the computer, USB or Ethernet? Ethernet
is always the easier choice :} ... if it's USB you'll have to give us
detail about make & model. Also, does your modem provide DHCP or is it
meant to be using static IPs?

I Have Connected It Through Ethernet.........it Allows Ip To Be Configured Through Dhcp. And One More Thing I Have Connected To Net Through Fedora. I Just Gave My Dns In "network Device Controller" Configuration And Then I Just Restarted The Network. It Worked For Me. But In Slackware I Dont Know How To Proceed. Help Me Out!!!!

Well ... start netconfig, tell it to use dhcp, and you should be fine.

Is the network card being recognised? What's the output of lspci and
ifconfig (both run as root).
