Compiling Zenity

I tried to compile zenity today using a slackbuild and it ended with this error:

Code:
zenity-notification.o: In function `zenity_notification_handle_stdin':
notification.c:(.text+0x362): undefined reference to `notify_notification_new_with_status_icon'
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [zenity] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/tmp/SBo/zenity-2.32.1/src'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/SBo/zenity-2.32.1'
make: *** [all] Error 2
I googled the error to see if the problem had been encountered before and I found this thread which seems to have something similar, but the solution provided, installing libnotify, won't fix my error because libnotify is already installed. Does anyone know what might fix this?

you can alternatively build and use version 3.4.0 on -current.

I will go ahead and use the more up-to-date version, and after slightly tweaking the SlackBuild file to accept the new source tarball it compiled perfectly Thank you both for your help
