Choosing a Slackware ISO from lists?

I am puzzled by the lists of Slackware ISOs.

Looking at both 32 bit and 64 bit ISOs for two machines.
Quote:
[DIR] slackware-14.2-iso/ 01-Jul-2016 00:11 -
Then there there are Install D1 665MB and Install D2 667MB...
And

[ ] slackware-14.2-install-dvd.iso

This one above looks like what I want for the 64 bit desktop.

Yes. If you want to run 64 bit Slackware then you should install a Slackware64 ISO.

Thanks and for a 32 bit laptop?

By the way, does Linux Mint Debian Edition retain all the good of actual Debian? And does Debian need tweaking to apply a new GUI?

Depends on how you define "tweaking". It certainly is a risk of a kind. Mint is a Desktop Environment and the design imperative of single DE distros (most of them are single) is a matter of settling on one DE and tweaking the supporting system to optimize for it. This is beneficial but comes at a cost especially when coming on top of a system that is already altered from Vanilla to suit that distro's preferred init system and package installation quirks. Installing a new WM/DE does have the potential to break the original although that's not commonly a major break, just a reduction in performance and a few non-working apps.

Slackware comes with several WM/DEs partly because it can, being profoundly vanilla. This is why one does not have to rely only on Official Repositories but can still build effectively from raw source. This is also why the Recommended Install of Slackware includes Development Tools where most distros, including every flavor of Debian, do not.

You're welcome. For 32 bit Slackware this is the ISO you want: slackware-14.2-install-dvd.iso
