changing window managers

I've got gnome working the way I like it, but its a little too much for my old and lightweight computer. I'm ready to try the other x window managers. My question is this: will xwmconfig destroy my current gnome setting if I need to switch to it later?

Window managers save settings in different config files so no, your GNOME settings should be fine even if you use other window managers. I switch between KDE (my default) and GNOME with no problems.

No, You can rn xwmconfig how ever many times you want. If you dont like one WM just run it again and choose gnome again.
