"Changes&Hints" file hard to understand...
HI -
Just received Slack 11 in my subscription. 10.2 is running fine but would like to reinstall (not upgrade). Reading the file "Changes and Hints" on CD 1 is very daunting - I'm talking about the items after the lists of new /old packages. For example, what does 'upgrade a/dev', and similar, mean in detail? Does one have to go learn a whole new set of stuff just to do a full install? Seems a bit
much, to me. I just want to do the full install, configure X - maybe fix the fonts as described,
isn't that enuf??? Or won't it work?
Is there a more detailed, more clear explanation of what is required to do the full install, someplace on the disk? Or online? I used to use the 'Slackware How-to' and do just fine.
These kinds of complications are why I've avoided the 2.6 kernel in the first place. Seems now one might need a whole new knowledge upgrade, just to install at all. Is this true?
