I have been poking around in KDE's settings and can't find how to change the clock format on a lock screen. How does one change it, or is it part of the theme itself and cannot be changed? I would prefer a 24hr clock.
Are you able to right-click the clock and then choose properties?
Nope. That does nothing, no context menu or anything - and I poked around again in here - but you only have the option to show the clock or not, no real way to change the format:
Try poking around with locale settings (KDE->System Settings->Regional Settings). Setting the region to en_GB.UTF-8 does give me a HH:MM clock at the lock screen at least. Then again, you might not, depending on your location, want to go full British with a system-wide setting, so some fine-tuning of the LC_* and LANG environment variables might be preferable.
The lockscreen (kscreenlocker) follows the KDE locale settings as @mogelbrod already suggested.
Please note that the login screen is a different application (sddm) and instead it follows the base system locale settings
So I assume this is what was being mentioned - I went in and changed it to British English (GB) - unless I have to poke around something else? Also at the time of this, it is still 10:56AM CST(Thats Central Standard Time) US for those who do not know (I don't know what my GMT is ). I'll have to wait to see when the time roles around to 13:00 to see if indeed the clock on the lockscreen is correct or if it is still a 12hr format.
Incidentally, I rather prefer the Metric/24hr formats anyways. [rant] I rather hate imperial measurements, as decimals are easier than fractions to work with - dunno why people here in Burgerland (across the pond) , still cling to Imperial measurements still (just like Liberia and what...Burma/Myanmar) - Literally 3 countries in the world that still use imperial measurements. But I guess you can say we technically use both as we have both metric and imperial on our goods that you buy.[/rant]
I wasn't born in the USA , came to the USA at the age of four - so English is technically my second language, however as a side-effect my vocabulary and skills in my mother-tongue is ....not-so-great.
