cdrom/dvdrom mount problem

hi

i am using my dvd rom after slackware 9.1
installed all oky

but a fewdays ago i have gave it to my friend he want's to canputer some dvd
but after set it when i mount my /mnt/cdrom it says
---------------------------------------------
Could not mount device.
The reported error was:
mount: /dev/cdrom is not a valid block device
-----------------------------------------------

but the dvd rom is oky i have use in my windows tell me how can i fix this problem in slackware 9.1

mount /dev/hd* /mnt/cdrom
where * is a, b, c or d.

yes i have gave but

it shows
mount: /dev/hdc is not a valid block device

working after remove the old /dev/cdrom
then
ln -s /dev/hdd /dev/cdrom

ok
