CD&DVD Recorder&Writer + Kernel

hi all!

i've got the following problem:

i have 1 CD/DVD Reader & Writer and 1 CD Reader & Writer...my Slackware 10 recognize only the DVD R&W, and only if used as a reader: /dev/cdrom exist, but /dev/cdrom1 doesn't and... cdrecord --scanbus doesn't return any result. ok, i said, let' recompile the kernel but... i got an error with the sound configuration while compiling even if i unselect all the "sound" subtree.

can anyone help me?

First thing -- do you have them jumpered correctly?

cdrecord only works with SCSI hardware, or IDE hardware that's acting like SCSI through the ide-scsi driver, so you need to have one (or both) of them running through ide-scsi to have cdrecord work on them.

2.6.something changed ide-scsi to ide-cd, try that.

i've added the hdc=ide-scsi e hdd=ide-scsi.. and it doesn't work...
i'll try with the 2.6.x kernel... bye ;]
