I can't open .cbr files with any program in Slackware64 current. I open .cbz files with Qcomicbook or Okular without any problem. I have installed Qcomicbook with success but it does note manage to open the .cbr files. When the download finishes, the icon of the downloaded .cbr file doesn't even have a graphic appearance, which happens in the case of .cbz files. The . cbr files are comic books that can be downloaded and the icons correspond to the covers. Tks!
when you install an application using a SlackBuild from SBo you should read its README and also install the dependencies listed in the REQUIRES variable of its *.info file: the qcomicbook.info file lists unrar as its only dependency (beside a full Slackware installation).
besides the HOWTO that I already pointed you to in the other topic, I suggest you to have a look at the FAQ too...
I appreciate your reply so much, ponce. for any reason, I dunno which one, I could open the .cbz files (with Okular) even before installing qcomicbook and unrar. But not the .cbr files that did not open even after qcomicbook was successfully installed in current by the way you pointed. that was the reason for what I opened a new thread, as the previous one was specific for qcomicbook in current. But I will be more aware in future.tks again.
I suspect the r in .cbr stands for "rar", while the z in .cbz stands for "zip", but that's just a wild guess
Archives in stock Slackware can be troublesome to work with, since for patent reasons rar/unrar, ace/unace and some others are not included in the base install.
The same goes for audio/video media codecs but that's for another thread...
