Cannot mount root

I have succesfully (as far as my computer has informed me) compiled the 2.6.4 and added it to lilo.conf in the same format as the previous kernel with the proper extensions. When I reboot the computer and try to load in the new 2.6.4 kernel vs. my old 2.4.22 kernel I receive a "cannot mount root on hda1" while my old kernel mounts fine. Any tips/suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It starts with what appears to be a normal boot and then posts the following:
Code:
UDF-fs: No partition found (1)
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on hda1
Again, thanks in advance.

slapt-get

does a 'slapt-get --install kdebase' upgrade all of KDE? Or is there another command to run to get/install all of kde?

sclebo, you probably should post a new query rather than adding this into a thread that has absolutely nothing to do with your question.

You've gotta enable reiser fs support when you configure the kernel
