Cannot mount dvd+rw...

Really bizarre problem. I'm able to mount a cd, and any other dvd just fine in the same drive. So I used ubuntu to copy a dvd to a dvd+RW. When I put that dvd+rw into the Slack box, Slackware doesn't detect any medium being in the drive. Eject works, and eject -t, but when the dvd is in the drive, it isn't detected.

I have no idea where to look on this one.

I've seen this happen if you have an older CD player that doesn't support the substrate on newer discs. I'm not sure this is also true of DVD players or not? I've had the problem with the 48x CDs and fixed it by only burning on older 8 or 16X CDs. But, I'm not sure DVDs have the same issue. Sometimes firmware updates to the player will fix these issues also.
