Cannot erase CD-RW.

Hi: Up to yesterday I did
Code:
cdrdao blank --device /dev/hdc
and the disk was blanked. I did it several times. Today I did
Code:
cdrecord blank=all dev=1001,0,0
and it could not blank it. Cdrecord has the -force and -immed options but it says "use them at your own risk". But I remember this has happened to me some time before. I do not remember what I did then. Any hints?

Kernel 2.6.21.5, Slackware 12.0
Cdrecord-ProDVD-Clone 2.01.01a23

EDIT: 'cdrecord -media-info' shows the disk effectively is not blanked.

Problem solved. For the time being. I turned off and on the machine and ... voila: cdrecord obediently erased the disc. So the problem must have been a hardware initialization one, I guess. But this, as I said had happen in the past and may happen again.

hi

glad you solved it

next time try -- removing and inserting disc without rebooting and then if info says not blanked try a full blank?
Code:
cdrdao --blank-mode full --device /dev/hdc
