Sorry - the line is the same in 12.2 and Slackware 13 anyway. Ok - so what do you have at line 117 of /etc/httpd/httpd.conf ?

Yes, it sounds like there is a typo in your httpd.conf if you are using pico, you can press Ctrl+w to search for a string, which could help you find the typo easier. As bgeddy mentioned, it should be on or around line 117 (you can check that with pico using Ctrl+c).

I got to thinking about it...

Changed LoadModule in httpd.conf to LoadModule php5_module lib/httpd/modules/libphp5.so.

Opened term and typed /etc/rc.d/rc.httpd start

Got the following:

[warn] module php5_module is already loaded, skipping
httpd: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.0.1 for ServerName

So tried restart, got the same output.

Checked httpd.conf again, and it had changed it, removing the line I had put in.

I don't know what changed, but apache is now functioning correctly with php, and all appears to be well.

Again, thanks to you both for your help. Wish I could say for sure what did it. I'm learning, and if I ever run across this again, I will definitely be recording the changes I might make to get this working again.

It sounds like it was calling the php module twice. In the bottom where you uncomment the part about the mod_php.conf file, that then links to the file that will normally call the php module. If it was called elsewhere in the httpd.conf with a LoadModule, it would come up with the error saying that it is already loaded.
