As usual, this kde4town upload is split in 2 big tarballs for packages and sources, kde4town-packages-20230514.tar with the size of 1.07 GB and kde4town-source-20230514.tar with the size of 1.6 GB
Please note that the packages directory structure was changed, now the packages built for Slackware 15.0 are on packages/15.0 while on packages/current are some additional packages reported to be required for kde4town's proper working under Slackware-current - in fact, there's today only a special build of jasper20 capable to be installed along with the stock jasper package from -current. Be warned that this jasper20 package is NOT needed for Slackware 15.0 .
As was requested, was added Krusader (and its friend Krename), and also was updated the libmm-qt, libnm-qt and plasma-nm packages from NetworkManager integration infrastructure, as of latest work of @BrunoLafleur.
Also, that new KCM module (seen discussed in the previous posts) named about-distro was added, with the kde-workspace patched along, and it gives a default page on KInfoCenter similar with the one from Plasma5.
Please note also that a new package named eigen20 was added, and the kdeedu:step was rebuilt along. In the end, I have arrived at conclusion that's simpler this way, because there may be another KDE4 software/packages depending on it.
Have fun!
Many thanks, LC!

On -current with the 6.4-rc2 kernel and the nouveau driver.
Other than the minor problems previously mentioned, everything else is working as it should.

Glad to hear this, BUT seems that I have just noticed a new little nuisance...
Please be kind to show the output of this command in a Konsole window:
Code:
glxinfo -B
I ask this because your Graphics Processor row shows no value in this about-distro page.

BTW, it works like a charm.
Many thanks!

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but was it meant to only come up in the root mode?
Thanks, again.

Reason: Typo.

I also noticed that weird thing
If I type : Krusader ( with K not k) it works from the launcher
But if I type it with a k, the only proposition is for "krusader as root"

Well, it's something a bit weird, but the single patch I have applied is the one shown in this thread and the Krusader is built with the kde.SlackBuild as the other packages.
Additionally, the source tarball krusader-389b153d_20160328git.tar.xz is generated from the latest commit of KDE4 branch on the Krusader's GIT repository - see the script /source/kde/src/extragear/scripts/get-krusader.sh
In fact, if you type (up to) "krusade" appears the "Krusader - root mode" link , but if you type "krusader" appears the normal "Krusader" link, like in the attached screenshots.
Anyway, any further hint or patch to fix this nuisance would be highly appreciated.

Ah yes, very bad memory here :-)
It was the "r" at the end, not the K
On contrary, I believe that's a very useful information.
That guy accurately describes this issue in the year of 2015, and this mean that this behavior wasn't introduced by my KDE4 build (against Slackware 15.0 libraries) or by PBSLACKS, but it was already present in the final releases of KDE4 and of Krusader for it.
Long story short, seems like this is a "stock issue"

I looked carefully at your sources, I never thought it was you who introduced it.
That's why ;-)

FWIW:
Late yesterday I did a fresh installation of the latest -current .iso including KDE-5 and then installed the KDE4Town files on top it. This has worked in the past, but not this time.
So, this morning another fresh installation was done with the same .iso, but KDE-5 was not installed. Once rebooted the KDE4Town files were installed and, again, the computer was rebooted.
Didn't work.
In both cases the error message is,
Quote:
Call to Inusertemp failed (temporary directories full?) Check your installation.
The /tmp directory is not full.
Xfce works fine.
Edit in: I should mention kde apps will not run from within Xfce.

Who owns the ~/.kde directory ? ( or .kde4, I don’t remember)
