Bluetooth - Fluxbox - pulseaudio not playing nice together
It seems now that I am using Fluxbox, no longer xfce4, Bluetooth is not getting started and or registered properly in the system.
Code:
Connection Failed: DBusFailedError: Host is down..
it connects then disconnects and in pulseaudio I cannot see the selection for it when it is connected. When I used this in xfce4 this problem was not occurring. I'd connect my cheep 12 dollar bluetooth ear buds to my laptop bluetooth open pavucontrol switch it to the head set then I could use vlc or what ever to listen to sound coming out of it.
Now in fluxbox this is no longer happneing. Even with using the bfautostart program it seems that it must not be starting Bluetooth properly?
or something else completely different is causing this issue that I have not thought of. Thing is that this issue exist in both distos using Fluxbox.
Bus 002 Device 006: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)
well the thing is I had it working, I figured it out. How to change it to the head set in pavautovolumesetter thingy whatever it is called. I can never remember how to spell it.
PulseAuto gui volume app.
Now as of just lately when I tried to pair / connect it again it wants to but I get errors.
Code:
Connection Failed: DBusFailedError: Host is down
what does that actually mean?? which is the host the pc or head set? I think it is the pc but the Bluetooth is up and running and the head set it diffidently turned on as well. so that message makes no sense to me.
I just deleted it in bluez, reestablished the connection, paired it, it is hooked up but still pulseaudio is not picking it up for some reason now. when it use to.
But I bet you a dead frog that if I turn off the head set then try to hook it back up it will fail.
MOD:
ok I owe you a dead frog now.. how do you want me to ship that to you?
For whatever reason it is now working again, when everything I did yeaturday the same things mind you, delete it, re pair it and all them steps nothing just get that error message.
Now it is making me into a lair. freaking Bluez grrrrr....
But it is still not working properly .. move away out of range, disconnect (good) move closer in range it reconnects automatically BUT not completely pulseAudio is not picked up on it like before so it can be used in applications. it is connected but it might as well not be.
it seems MAYBE pulse and bluez are not working properly. which takes me back to pulseAudio again in loading modules . the fist new fresh connect pair worked now subsequent connects do not pair it completely to the sound system. it is just linked to the laptop and that is as far as it goes is seems.
it seems it maybe that pulseaudio is not getting updated now that I am getting to to keep a connection.
I just deleted it again then re-paired it again but it is not being seen by anything other then bluetooth-manager
Ok I just found another selection within a menu item off the right click on the device through bluetooth-manager under audio profile which is something I've never had to use, now it seems i have to..
this thing has a bigger learning curve then Linux itself .. lmao
I still do not understand that error message I was getting... glitch in the system? no matter.
What about this delay in sound and scratchiness I am now getting?
that has to be something to do with a buffer on Linux and the quality of the movie files audio.
Because I just killed vlc and the sound kept going for a longer bit then I'd expect. that maybe due to emptying a (sound) buffer it might go into then to the bluetooth, but that is just a hypothesis.
I'm going to handbrake a movie file that is giving me this scratchiness to see if that will make the sound track better. to check part of this hypothesis I have on this.
