Bizzare X Problems

I just bought a new monitor (View Sonic Ultra Brite A90f+). When I start X it sometimes starts in 1024x768 and sometimes in 1280x1024. If I kill the X server sometimes it will reset into 1280x1024 which is my perfered resolution. Video Card is Radeon 9000 Pro 128mb, Fglrx Drivers and 2.6.7 Kernel

Have you adjusted vertical and horizontal sync rates in xorg.conf when you started using your new monitor ?

It very well may not, however having been running a kernel that is still in development fase, with ATi card and drivers with still somewhat flakey 2.6 support, with possibly incorrect sync rates for your current monitor, I'd be willing to exhaust all possible options..
